Day 8: Movin' to the country, gonna eat a lot of peaches

Wow, what a better time than now to blog about food, haha. For those of you who know, STOP PREACHING YOUR EATING REGIMEN TO ME! For those of you who don't, it's better that you don't.
(It feels weird to write about what I ate today. But here goes!)
I had cornflakes and milk, and a coffee on my to office.
At office, I had tea and hedhikaa. (Yes, I have two breakfasts everyday AND yet people think I don't eat enough. Muggles!)
For lunch, I went home and had rice and garudhiya (which me being Maldivian and all, love!)
Evening tea was orange juice and (sadly no tea, because I was too lazy to make it, tsk tsk) hedhikaa again.
At night, I made noodles with too much pepper (I like it, okay) and milk.

No desserts, no cake. :( I'm sad but my teeth (and my dentist) are happy. Oh well. On the bright side, I LOVE YOU BROCCOLI!
PS, this post was written yesterday.

Day 7: I hate the way you talk to me and the way you cut your hair

Hello ya'll. Yes, I lost the spark to blog. I let other things stop me from blogging. I've been sick and confused, miserable and happy, glum and mean and also annoyed. Here are five things that annoys me a lot.

People who spell LyK DiZ
Seriously. What is wrong with you? I want to hit you, in the face, with a dictionary  Stop abusing Caps Lock and the English Language at the same time. Also while we're on the topic of this, I hate when people capitalize the first letter of every freaking word like every sentence is a movie title. No. Just no.

People with bad taste in footwear
I have a love hate relationship with flip flops and I hate when people wear them with everything. I also hate people who wear clogs and uggs (I'm sure it's comfy and since I come from the sunny side of life I wouldn't know about cold feet) and people who wear high heels with everything. There's a place and a time for everything. Learn to appreciate footwear people!

Tardiness
I used to be fashionably late everywhere (and sometimes still am) and I just can't take it when people say they'll come on a certain time and then don't. At least have the common decency to inform why you're getting late.

People who try to chat you up
Not just random, hey how are you and trying to know you, but people who ask things like "ASL" and "can I be your friend" and "do you have a boyfriend  to random strangers on twitter! What is this? Mig33? If you want to know someone go the steps. Before you can ask someone their number, you need to establish some sort of trust. Maybe it's just me.

Littering
I think I've written more blog posts about this than necessary but we Maldivians love to litter. It's like the roads are our personal trash can. If you're my friend and you do this in front of me, I'll go all crazy and give you a lecture. Stop being the enemy of the planet.

Day 6: With some indie record that's much cooler than mine

My taste in music tend to be more weird than mainstream  I do like some mainstream songs, and some non mainstream, but since I usually listen to country and some pop, it's usually not what others listen.
The problem now though is that I tend to like songs, and then people start liking them too, or maybe I start liking when people do, but either way, it tends to turn mainstream. If I Die Young is a classic example.

I like a lot of genres. Mostly country though. Country is simple, inspiring, romantic, mesmerizing  it tells a story. Then Tay's songs got popular. I Knew You Were Trouble is more pop than country, but soon everyone was playing it. I like it, but there are better Tay songs in that album including Red and Girl at Home.

My taste in music keeps changing too. I used to love Disney songs, but now not so much. I still like Hindi songs, especially Punjabi style music, mellow songs, etc. I've grown to like more country, less pop and more jazz. I started finding new songs and boom, now my playlist has songs from Garth Brooks to Shania Twain, from The Lumineers to The Band Perry, from Nicki Minaj to Demi Lovato.

I don't detest mainstream music, just some songs that gets played too much it hurts my earlobes. ha ha

Day 5: Everything will be alright if you keep me next to you

I thought it would be fun to write a song dedicated from Tay to Harry Styles, using names of Tay Songs and 1D songs, so here goes.

I lay awake up all night thinking about our song
Nobody compares to you and the moments
As the sparks fly, tell me why
We made the same mistakes, tell me a lie

I was torn, invisible,  forever young
Haunted, fearless and enchanted
Looking at your beautiful eyes
You were innocent, untouchable
Like a wonderwall, irresistible

(CHORUS)
I loved you first in another world
But there you go giving me a heart attack
And I'm stuck here telling to myself
I heart a question mark

I had a perfectly good heart
That dreamed of summer love
But you stole my heart and then crushed it
Like a heartbreaker, breaker

Do you think that I'll comeback for you
C'mon C'mon C'mon
I changed my mind over again
No one's gonna come and save you tonight
Na Na Na
It was the story of us, the way I loved you
And now no body knows of this sad beautiful tragic tale

I kept asking you to stay stay stay
You said I should've kissed you
And then I said we were unperfect
Like a maths song, like a holy ground
Like the starlight in a white Christmas
Before the storm, in a silent night

You told me of all that makes me beautiful
That I had this one thing, and you remembered the little things
I wanted to kiss you, jump then fall
You're in a white horse, in our love story
It was the best day when you were mine.
So rock me, it gotta be you.
Give me your last first kiss and long live.
I mean it like a red permanent market.

Oh, I can love you more, I need you
I almost do, we can begin again
so take me home, I'm missing you
Give me a chance, for the both of us.
and we can live while we're young

Day 4: We chase these days down with talks of the places that we will go

Here's how today goes.
8:00 - I wake up, get very weird about the vest I ironed last night, but still wear it and rush out the door with a coffee on my hand.
9:00 - I make it to work just in the nick of time.
10:00 - breakfast at office with the girls.
12:00 - I was supposed to buy flowers with Gigs but there was an ungent meeting so I had to postpone
1:00 - I go home for lunch, try to get a ride to the flower shop + Democracy House for an interview of YLP.
2:00 - I get very upset and clean my wardrobe even when it was already very neat to begin with. Yes, I clean when I'm sad. :/ I don't even know why I was upset. Maybe it was my cold.
3:30 - Back to work.
5:15 - I go home, get rid of the vest and watch Devil Beside Me's last episodes
8:30 - I was supposed to attend a meeting of DYM but I wasn't feeling too good to go out of the house, so I stay and work on DYM magazine.
11:00 - I remember that I found some of my clothes that needed mending while on my binge cleaning charade and I mend them.
11:45 - I iron my clothes and remember I did not blog. I rush to the laptop to try to post this before 12. Let's hope I can.

It was a good day, very productive and unproductive too. Oh, well. How was your day?

Day 3: Our aspirations are wrapped up in books

Wow, I talk about books a lot, and I have several times talked about my favourite book of all times (apart from the Holy Quran of course), To Kill a Mockingbird. It's beautiful, haunting and a literary masterpiece.
Taking about a favourite book is really hard, it's like asking a mother whom her favourite child is, and while most mothers have one, they would never admit it. haha
Let's just say I've enjoyed this one book recently, called If This Isn't Paradise, I Want My Money Back. It was an e-book that I took just because it had a pretty cover (yes, I judge books by it's cover, it's name, it's authors name, etc. I'm a lookist.) and while it was difficult tor read (because of the British English curse words. I can't just bring myself to think that Shite is a curse word. It sounds too pristine.) but I managed to read it within a few weeks.

I thought the book was nicely written. Charlotte is in the afterlife, or a coma or something and her life is all messed up and she gets a chance to go back as an angel to her friends and ex boyfriend. She has angelic powers that she uses to make her friends lives better and finds out things about people's lives that she didn't. It was written in a very fun, easy to read kind of way with lots of lists (which I obviously loved). The characters were explained in detail but I didn't like some parts which were very fast paces while others dragged on and on. Lots of unnecessarily detail followed some parts as well, but overall, it was a fun read.

Short Summary: Charlotte is in a coma after a terrible car accident and she gets a chance enroll in an angel program and come back to earth as an angel to her ex boyfriend James whom she hates. She tries to make James' life miserable while finding out truths about herself while helping her best friend Fiona, her sister Kate and her mother. In the end, Charlotte is the one whose angel she must depend on.

Fav Character: Kate. I thought she was very very sophisticated and she is very much like me. While I do like Charlotte and she does these things that I would do, I felt she was more of a doormat and that's something I don't like in charcaters, pr people.

Verdict: A simple read to enjoy on a fine Sunday
Rating: 3/5

If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, which would it be?

Day 2: I believe we place our happiness in other people's hands

There are a lot of things that I feel strongly about, but if I had to choose one cause to fight for the rest of my life, I would take that as living you dreams. I'm a huge believer of making the most of life, of dreaming big and making them come true.
I've often been told (and I'm extremely happy that I have) that my life list is an inspiration to people and while I like being told that, I like it more when I cross something off, or help someone else cross something off their lists. I believe in living a full life, a life dedicated not only to your work, but your family your country, your god, and yourself.

Sometimes people ask me why I do the things I do? Sometimes the only answer I have is that because I want to, and that suffices for me. I am saddened by people with no dreams, no goals. It makes me feel very melancholy when close friends of mine live life to only please others. While I would definitely do anything to make my parents proud, I'll also try to make that what I want to do as well and Masha Allah my parents have been extremely supportive in everything.
I'm not asking you to just be selfish. Be generous. Be helpful, but also be humble and have a stand. You have  this one life, one chance to make a mark. Go do something  If you hate your job, quit it. You can be more happier if you make money (even little) from something that you actually love to do. If you want to do a degree, put in some application forms. If you want to lean Japanese, enroll in a class. Live your life. Don't just see the days go by because I believe that a happy person is a more genuine person, a more caring and a more interesting person.
Also dreaming and living you dreams can lead to good things. You can fight for the causes you believe in, get an education, start a business, strengthen your faith, circumnavigate the globe, fall in love, start a family,  and maybe even change the world. Every big person who made their name started with a dream.
Do it today. Make a list. Then just follow it. You will soon find meaning in life and it will make you want to be a better person.

Day 1: 'cos you know the way to my heart

I'm an extremely easy person to impress, if you how to. I guess I'm a very traditional girl at heart and good manners and old novels are definitely what impresses me most. Here are a few ways.

Chivalry
Chivalry is not dead and does not only belong in old novels and random movies. I find people very attractive when they open doors for others, greet people and be generally well mannered. A gentlemen over an arrogant, selfish bastard any day of the week please.

Humour
I love people with a good sense of humour. Someone who can take a joke and not just make jokes. I once knew a really handsome guy who was a total turn off after he could not take a very silly joke. One of my good friends also was a really fun person to be with, but when the joke is on her, she goes total bonkers. I need people in my life who are genuinely funny.

Good Grammar
I seriously cannot emphasize this enough. If you write lyk dis, then no matter how hot you are (even if you are Gerard Butler) you will instantly become unattractive to me. I like smart people who only use text language for texts and not when they have all the words in the language and no limits to use them and still write like that.

Style
I think the photo's from Sartorialist, not sure.
People who dress smartly instantly become attractive. I especially love guys who can pull off being appropriately dressed all the times. I find people who wear flip flops (especially guys) very annoying unless they are at the beach. You don't necessarily have to always wear Lacoste polos. I have this friend of mine who is always on trend and it makes me happy to even be his friend. Also guys in chucks melt my heart like a summer's day. Same goes for girls.

Small Things
I love when people remember the small things, like good night messages and wishing on random days. Yellow flowers when the sky is gray, dedicating a song out of the blue. These little things make up a big impression on me. Maybe because my whole life, I've seen people being swept away by them.

30 Day Blog Challenge

Hey y'all.

As you might know, I have a list of 101 things to do in 1001 days and only last month did I realize I have only a year left and about 90 more goals so in a pursuit of finishing it, I am trying more things every month. One of the goals is to blog consecutively for 30 days. I have been neglecting this blog for sometime now (hello busy work + personal life) and this seems like the perfect time to do it.

So, I googled 30 day blog challenges (and boy, are there many of them. We bloggers are crazy!) and this one stuck out as something fun but also personal, but not personal enough (I'm still a bit controversial about the whole privacy thing) so I decided "you know what? I think I can stick to this" and just do it. Here's the big list.

So starting tomorrow (Insha allah), I will be blogging continuously throughout. This shall be fun!

Scavenger Hunt

I've always wanted to be a part of a scavenger hunt, but since I live in Maldives where having fun apparently is only going out for coffees and staring at people, I had to do something about it. I decided to host a scavenger hunt of my own for some of my cooler friends who love to have fun and not question everything. They were really excited for it and so the planning began.
the list. I reduced it to 18 items since the time was limited.
I planned it as an un-birthday hunt since I could not have a 21st birthday party. I contacted 21 people, got a list of 21 items (things to find, things to photograph and things to video) and got three teams and it was all going really good until I had to postpone it several times due to random things and people being busy.

On 16th, we finally had it even though some people could not make it. We had two teams and started at exactly 4. One of the rules was that we couldn't use cycles/bikes so everyone walked and we had two hours to find all items. Team A was Delta and they had all guys who were totally competitive and our team had three girls and three guys and we were called The ScAvengers.
The Delta's taking a picture of a teammate taking a picture of a teammate taking a picture of a teammate taking a picture of a flower. Photo by Moony.
It was really fun trying to find the stuff, photographing  video-ing and finding famous people. We had a few hurdles like video-ing police guys because they could not be video-d in uniform but Delta found a genius way around it. At the end, Delta won with 210 points while we only managed to get 195. They won lots of chocolates and we all shared and it was two hours well spent.

I hope we can pull off one of these each month with more people. It shall be so much fun.

Book Review: Whupped

This is the first book that I actually won on a LibraryThing (if you guys love books, this website should be one of your most visited sites!) and read. I shared a few mails with the writer, Jim Stevens and he was really nice and he's already working on the second book so I'm extremely excited for it.
I thought it was brilliantly written, in present tense which I'm finding in a lot of books recently. I like that style of writing, it's easier to imagine what is going on. I also like how each chapter was told in someone's point of view and has the name of the person and their "label/role" written. It made it extreme interesting and you get a background into each character and why they do what they do. The characters has depth to them and most characters had a back-story and you feel like you've known them for a long time. The story itself was something I liked since I love wedding and everything about it. The pop culture angle was a nice touch and you were never sure whether it was going to end the way you think. AT some point, I thought things were a bit cruel and Alyssa seriously didn't seem all that bad to have Jake being done all that.

Short Summary: Jake is engaged to Alyssa and about to get married. Alyssa wants a perfect wedding and Jake;s best friends Conrad and Gideon thinks that Jake marrying Alyssa is a big mistake and does everything they can to stop the wedding, including kidnapping the groom.

Fav Character: Kay. I know, a weird choice  She isn't even one of the main characters but I think she was a good person despite what she did to make money. She had a heart and she cared. I am just going to be cliche and like people who are like-able. haha. I also thought I had a lot in common with Alyssa.

Verdict: I thought it was a fun story, also very short and nice. If you are looking for a quick read, this is a great book.

Cause I don't wanna fall in love

I've had the most amazing few days.
On Thursday, mom and I made cupcakes and we had a blast decorating them with pink and yellow icing.
That night, there was a treat from Queen to all former classmates, most of which was political talk. :O
Friday, we did the same except this time it was for a cousin's birthday. I love making cupcakes, too bad I can't eat too many. I think I've already had too much cupcakes in the last two days. At night, there was a fun work event which had cake. Again, couldn't eat any.
In fact, this whole post could be of all the occasions I had where I could eat cake but didn't. :/

Yesterday, there was more cupcake making. Seriously, our tiny kitchen was filled with five dozen cupcakes all looking extremely delicious. Myra's an amazing cupcake artist. I call her Peeta, haha.
Last night I hosted one of my infamous Pictionary nights and we had a fun time eating pizza, making jokes and being happy when others lost, haha.
