Weekend Reads

Every Friday, I tell myself I will clean my room and study but I always end up watching something or spending too much time on Pinterest. The same thing is happening today, so I'm just telling myself that from now on, every Friday, I'll watch something and spend time on Pinterest. That way I will end up cleaning my room and studying if it all goes not according to my plan.

And, as usual some of my favorite pictures from Pinterest.

This is such an easy top. But I don't know. It looks good all, but I'm just not sure if I want to wear this out of home.

This is me when I am at places I don't want to be. Yet, it happens so many times.
This. This is something every man should do, at least once. Seriously.
Have a great weekend everyone. I'll be watching Cougar Town, and probably doing some E-marketing and HR, listening to music and not going out. :)

I'm at a payphone, trying to call home.

Sometimes I just think we are all a bunch of people brainwashed to believe things that others want us to ; standing up for something that we don't even know. Other times, I think Maroon 5 is awesome. I am always in conflict with my self it's not even funny. Today is one of those days. The country is at a critical point and I'm just here. I donno who's right and wrong. Maybe there is no right and wrong. People just believe in things they don't understand and maybe I do too. I don't know if this is a victory or the start of something we all will regret one day. I wonder what Mahatma Gandhi thought when he stood up, when he marched. Maybe it gets easier because it was for the country who was not in war with themselves. I can't wait for the day when we pay back what this country has given us, but I'm also scared. What if we make it even a bigger mess.
Anyhow, apart from all that deep meaningful talk with myself lets see what I have been doing when not thinking about the future. I have been watching Alphas all week long. I only went to work on Sunday. I have been a mess lately, just like my country. Alphas was good though. Really good. I can't wait till season two finishes so I can watch it all. Yes, I wait for one whole season to end and then get all episodes and watch them, that way it gets easier to keep track. I did go to a few classes and had been doing OK.
My friend Chris from US, whom I met in Sri Lanka a few weeks ago was in Male' today before his flight to London. The boys showed him around Male' last night and then I joined them for breakfast. It was great to see him again. This guy is so funny. Just talking to him makes everything good. We dropped him at the ferry, and I hope he gets to London safe.
Meanwhile, I'm going to be doing some work (which should be what I was doing this entire week), and watch some Cougar Town, read a book for a change. But I think I'm gonna end up doing no work and watching Cougar Town all day long. -.-
Have a great day people. I'm still waiting for the day when we'll sing Hellalujah!

Monday Playlist

Since music is a big part of my life (I know, very cliche'), I thought of adding the playlist segment every Monday, so I can share with you the songs I've been listening to the week. My taste in music is rather weird I'd say.I listen to most kinds of music, but I'm more of a country girl. I love country music, especially old country, and Taylor Swift. I also like Pop and Blues. Other kinds, I do enjoy one or two songs, but I don't usually listen to many of the genre. I've been enjoying the following songs lately.

We Are Never Getting Back Together by Taylor Swift
Ever since this song came into iTunes and was trending in twitter, I've been listening to it non-stop. It's very Taylor, but also not very Taylor. I've heard better songs but this one's just got that stuck in your head kinda feel. Whenever some fight (about normal sibling stuff) happens between my sister and I, you'll hear one of us say "You go talk to your friends talk to my friends and talk to me". ha! It is so hilarious.

Another Now by Kate Alexa
You would know how much I talk about H2O: Just Add Water. So much, that I found most songs on the soundtrack and started listening to them. This one's a particular favorite. It has such beautiful lyrics and mellow music that I absolutely love. I've also been fangirling Kate and her music. She has an overwhelmingly beautiful voice.

My First Kiss by 3oh!3
This is such a fun song. I used to listen to it all the time in HFM, and then forgot all about it, until one day I saw Ashley sing it in Hellcats and so I got the song and it has been playing non-stop last week. I am liking 3oh!3, especially the songs on their Streets of Gold album.

Affirmation by Savage Garden
Ever since I heard this song, I completely and utterly fell in love with it. It's like my motivation mantra now. I mean seriously. It's like as if someone put all my beliefs into a beautiful song. Everyday while I pass through the park on my way to work, I keep singing this in my mind and it's one of my favorite moments of the day.

Glad You Came by The Wanted
I am positive that this song can brighten anyone's day. I'm not even a fan of The Wanted but this song just makes me like them more than other boy bands (cough*onedirection*cough). The chorus is beautiful and their accents make this song so much much better. The whole "and I decided you look well on me" is just wow.

Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks
Garth is my favorite old country singer, and I love his songs. This one, especially. I heard it the other day after a long time, and it brought back so many good memories.
Hey There Delilah by Plain White Tees
How can you not love this? In fact, The Plain White Tees are my favorite band now just because of this song  and Rhythm of Love, and 1234. Ok so I like a lot of their music. This one is the story of us and that's why I love it the more. When we get through this, the world will definitely be a better place. :)

Prem Ki Naiyya from Abaj Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani
I think I may be the only one who loves this song. Most people hate punjabi-style songs. This one has been a personal favorite for a long time, and so I requested it on a show the other day and then I had this amazing feeling when it was playing, like everything was great and the world was bright and shiny. -.- I'm not even kidding.

Ankh Hai Bari Bari by Alka Yagnik
I also have a penchant for old hindi songs and Urdu Ghazals. Nothing like a cup of tea and old hindi music with its beautiful heartwarming poetry. I was up some nights ago, and was changing radio channels when I heard this and it is so so mesmerizing. The guy is in tears but the girl talks about smiling. The lyrics, they just made me nearly cry because it was so emotional, and beautiful.

Goom Hai Kisi Ki Pyar Main by Abhijeet and Sunidhi
Lets get one thing straight. I am a sucker for love songs. I love love. I love the idea of love, and I love love stories, and love songs. I used to watch only Hindi movies because they depict love in a very interesting way. Old hindi movies are especially good. These kinda songs just make you wanna go into a forest and run around and feel like you're in a fairytale.

Katti Hivvaru Fest 2012

I've been talking about this for sometime now, and last weekend it was held and it was so much fun. I'm a bit sad I wasn't fully involved with the actual work. I've been very lazy and uninspired lately. Nawaf and the guys did so much work and I'm glad it turned out alright.

So Friday night, I attended the fair with Em and Fishbun, a little late because it was raining cats and dogs! The event hasn't started yet because of the rain so I went around and  met lots of old friends and new ones. Happy was doing a stall, and as usual there was the Democracy House stall where I stayed and made a new bunch of friends who were so lovely and pretty and cool. When the event was formally inaugurated, after speeches by Wuff, and both the ministers, they went from stall to stall and when they came to DH's stall I introduced the stall and then the guys made both ministers and Naafi play a game of word building and the deputy minister won. It was fun. I also played it with the guys and sadly lost. Later, I went around to some stalls and then went home.

Then on Saturday night, after a really great time with the guy, we went to check KHF again, and this time it was more fun and happening. There was boduberu and dhandijehun. A classmate of mine was in the dhandi group too, which was the most shocking discovery of the night. haha. Then we went around to stalls and again at DH's stall, played word building and this time I won, thanks to this guy who was helping me. ^.^ I also saw Darky do some awesome magic! We had a fun time and then we said goodbye to Wuff and came home. It was clearly one of the best nights.

I'd like to take time to congratulate Nawaf on the festival. I'm so proud to know you, and so proud of DYM.  The team did really amazing work. So, cheers, and here's a toast to a brighter future. The event was a success, thanks to all who came and took part and the exhibitors.
If you missed it, then don't worry. We at DYM are always cooking up fun and informative stuff for youth, so there'll be other stuff in future. Chin up, buttercup.
PS You can read the article on Haveeru about it HERE. :D

Weekend Reads

It's been a lazy week, so I am trying to be as productive as I can this weekend. It helps that there is the Katti Hivvaru Fest. It also helps that I told myself last night to get my act together, Blair style.

Meanwhile, you can read some interesting articles I found over the week.
Carly is one of my favorite lifestyle bloggers and she wrote some really great articles this week about packing, back-to-school outfits and productivity. Adi continues her post with more impeccable writing, and Bakerella got Toys R Us to product a cake pop toy set, which I am in love with.
And, as usual a ton on great pictures I found on Pinterest.
This is crazy. I mean why would you not eat the whole thing once? I would do that, but yes everyone needs to lock their ice-cream.
This is so me. I used to buy birthday cakes on random days just to eat them. I find nothing wrong with that.
Speaking of cake, isn't this the cutest Minnie Mouse cake you have ever see? Such pretty details.
I hope you have an amazing weekend guys. Toodles.

Some indie record that's much cooler than mine

Since the holidays, I've been my lazy self. Doing absolutely nothing, but also watching too much H2O: Just Add Water which I used to love until I had this instant where I watched the last episode  and now I know how it will end, so I sort of don't want to watch it but the OCD person in me is not letting me delete it without watching so I am watching it. Ah, my life is so sad! -__-
The good news is, office and uni starts next week and the weekend, I'll be busy with the Katti Hivvaru Fest which is this youth festival DYM is organizing in collaboration with the youth ministry. It is going to be absolutely fun and if you're not there, then I am afraid we might have to end our friendship.
I've also been not going out since Sunday. I am not very inspired. I watched Sex and the City the other night and I was so motivated to finish writing my story but by the time I woke up the next day, all motivation was gone. I hate when that happens.
Anyway, life's normal and I am going to do some motivating stuff to kick out this laziness and probably watch a bit of Gossip Girl because Blair has this contagious attitude that I could use a bit in my life.

Favorite Comedy Series

My two favorite genres of TV are Police Procedure and Comedy. Police Procedure probably because I grew up wanting to be Nancy Drew, and that is the closest thing to Nancy Drew (other than Veronica Mars of course). While comedy is everyone's favorite, the number of good humored shows keep decreasing probably because of the increase of vampire/werewolf shows. *sigh* Anyhow, here's a list of my favorite comedy shows that I have watched.

1. Friends
The ultimate comedy king. I can't believe I spent all the years without watching this. It is hilarious sad, happy, and weird at the same time and soon you are laughing and tears are rolling down your eyes and you're like, it ended. Then you spend the next two years re-watching it again and again. The jokes never get old and you wish you had a life just like these six friends living in the city.

2. 100 Questions
This was I think a bit based on friends, cos it shows five odd friends living in the city, again. I honestly watched it five times, mostly because it only has six episodes cos it got cancelled. It was such a fun series. I still laugh when I remember the first episode where Wayne is telling Charlotte to not go meet Rick and he's wearing a baseball hand and it is so so fun. Believe me, you would want to watch this, it has got some funny stuff.

3. Outsourced
If you haven't watched this, then you are missing out on a lot of fun. The whole Indian setting, the multicultural scene, the oddball cast, the selling of funny items and Rajiv make this series a whole one season of endless laughter. My favorite episode was the made-up holiday Vindalu-day.

4. Last Man Standing
I recently started watching this, and I loved every single episode. Mike lives in a household with three girls and his wife and everyday is an adventure of getting angry lots of drama and being the man in the family. It is sort of like my family, except a LOT more funnier and crazier.

5. The Big Bang Theory
I don't even have to describe why this is funny. Four geeks and a girl, can it get any better than this? YES it can. Because there's Dr. Sheldon Cooper. The dialogues are awesome and the jokes and funny, once you get it of course.

6. Community
Three words. Abed and Troy. Also their Spanish song. Every episode is fun, relate-able, filled with simple things that get you hooked on this series.

7. Two and a Half Men
I don't know why I started watching this, but some episodes were fun. I love how every episode name is a line in the episode and I keep trying to find that exact line.

8. Accidentally on Purpose
This is extremely fun. I watched it twice back-to-back and I would still watch it again and again. Lots of jokes, interesting characters and a baby!

9. Chuck
A geek, a secret agent and lots of action. I used to love this a lot, but somewhere through half way lost interest. I still do watch it and Chuck Bartowski is absolutely amazing and so is Sarah, but I don't know what happened. Maybe too much Buy More happened.

10. 30 Rock
I love Tina Fey. That women knows what's up. 30 Rock is a bundle of bad jokes, good jokes and weird characters trying to make a TV show. Plus, Tina's in it. You have to watch it, just for Liz Lemon. Shark Week, Blergh anyone?

Some of honorable mentions that almost made the list are;

How I Met Your Mother
I only watch it for Neil Patrick Harris.

Cougar Town
I used to hate this, but then loved it. Jules is amazing.

New Girl
I still don't get the whole show. I just watch it cos Zooey is pretty.

Some shows I want to watch in the future;

Happy Birthday Mom

Another year passed. Every year, you give me so much more reasons to be proud of you. I know we've had some rough times, but I always love you. Nothing else matters to me as much as family, and even though I never tell you that, I mean it.
Here's wishing you all the happiness in the world, because you deserve them. You are the best mother a girl could possibly ask for. I am because of you. May Allah bless you and always keep you in good health and give you happiness. :)

Eid Mubarak

Hello Sunshine.
Ramadan is officially over, but I am thinking of doing the 6 Sunnah fasts this time. Fasting is such a good practice for me, because my days become more productive, and lets see, I am also not a huge fan of eating, so it's all good.
All jokes aside, I hope you are/had a really good time celebrating Eid. I sure did. Unfortunately, I couldn't wake up to go to the Eid prayers but I saw pictures and Masha Allah, it was beautiful! I have never been so proud to be Maldivian.
In the evening, I went to SAYS event at Artificial beach with my cousin Ninni and we had a great time talking about random stuff, eating ice-cream and we later went to Children's Park where I met mom and Mick and we played lots of games and won prizes. I think I was more excited than Mickie. haha

DYM Flash Mob

I have been meaning to do a post about this since we had the flash mob back in June. Since flashmobs are so exciting, and in my bucket list, I have been telling Nawaf and the guys to do one for ages and we finally one day just decided on the song and decided to do it. Then I proceeded to spend several days watching over all the flashmob videos on Youtube and get all excited.
378257_2275324057944_945741704_n
Then, after several days of practice (and by several I meant only a week) we went to the beach and danced like there was no tomorrow. It was just so so fun. I so want to do this over and over again.

all pictures from Iyya
I watched the video of it a few weeks ago and it was so crazy. We were all so uneven and out of sync with music but we were having so much fun. haha.
You can read the longer and more interesting version in the DYM blog.

Weekend Reads

For me, Fridays are rather dull. There's generally lots of sleeping, laundry, and watching TV. However, since I started working I have been waiting for Fridays so that I can set my alarm for the office time, just so I can cut it off and go back to sleep. Oh, that feeling is absolutely amazing.
But unlike me, if you are the kind who likes to be very productive, then you should try;
  1. Making rainbow flowers like Katie
  2. Making pushpop pencils like Bakerella
  3. Reading about Anna Piaggi on Diana's blog.
I will be here watching Hellcats, reading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (LOVE THIS BOOK!), going to my cool cousin's birthday iftar, and doing some research. Meanwhile I'll leave you with some interesting pictures I found over the week.
Oh Barney, always looking so awesome. He is the only reason I watch HIMYM.

This has been recently added to my life list, but should have been added a long time ago. I absolutely love Dr. Dre.
Isn't this the coolest thing ever? Even though I'm a Slytherin, I love the Revenclaw cover cos it looks like the Maldivian passport.
Have an amazing weekend you lovely peeps!

Lasgnacatdoodle

Hello guys. It has clearly been too long. Tell me you haven't already forgotten me. I have been lazy. Very lazy. Mostly due to sleep, and due to not motivating myself enough to do anything  besides sleeping and looking up celebrity pictures online.
Yesterday, there was an Office Iftar at Trader's Hotel where I had the most amazing lasagna after ages. Funny story, I found some lasagna sheets in our had eaten half of kitchen the other day, but someone had eaten half of one sheet so I went on my Nancy Drew mode and found out that dad ate it. No one apparently knew what it was because the pack was all written in Swahili or something. Dad had been eating it cos it tasted good. Oh, I love how my family is sometimes very weird. I have yet to learn how to make lasagna.
I have been watching Hellcats (yes, I still haven't watched it even though I have had it for ages. I have a special love for Ashley Tisdale since her Suite Life days. That girl just makes everything so good. I am also watching this absolutely ridiculous Korean drama called Devil Beside You. It's so horribly disastrous, but I just can't stop watching it. Korean drama's does this to me. Plus, the girl in it is so cute and she makes such funny faces and the guy has this very charming smile.
This month has some esctiting things in store for me. Our organization, DYM is finally becoming registered (and I'm a founding memeber! :D I feel like I'm a Salazar Slytherin or Ben Franklin), we are having a youth festival and there's an LTLT program by the end of the month as well. Should keep this girl busy and not lazy for a while.
In the meanwhile, I will be playing around with the Google doodles, writing up an HR plan and criticizing websites wishing I was watching Dr Suess' The Lorex instead. If you have already watched it then I hate you, but not as much as I hate Twilight so we'll be fine.

Weekend Reads

Ah, it's been a week since I came back from Lanka. Things have been going good. Slow, but good. I like slow and I like good, so it's a win win! Lets see what blogosphere has been up to this week
Adi has been writing meticulously. Beautiful musings under the title, Of moving forward, part 4 and 5
Can you guess all the levels of the logo game on Miss At La Playa? I could only guess very few. -__- *shame shame* A pair and spare has some very good tips on how to choose fabric for all our crafty folks, so be sure to check it out. Meanwhile, Shazwani has some colorful outfit posts. Whenever I see a beautiful hijabi girl, I just have the instant need to check all of her pictures over and over again.

I'll leave you with some pictures I found interesting over the week.

I don't why she was so un-amused, but she is surprisingly beautiful when she is smiling. Still, this cracked me up.

This is something everyone should always remember.
That's it folks. I will spending the weekend reading, going to people's places for roadhavillun (Iftar) and also playing card games. What about you?
