2025 Highlights
2025 was a year of move, I was getting myself ready to come back to Maldives after spending a long while in Australia. Excited to come back to my life, friends, and family, but also sad to be leaving behind new friends, beloved places and Solo, a lemon drink I can't get enough of. Despite it being a slow year and tons of lasts, I did manage to still put a lot of life into it.
Media consumption remains a constant hobby that brings me so much joy, I love finding new shows, and for some reason last year we watched quite a lot fo reality shows (hello Taskmasker!). My favourite movies was Summer of 69, a hilarious and witty coming of age flick and my favourite show is a tie between latest season of Severance which we watched so intensely and Ludwig, a puzzle maker crime solver, a favourite combo. I didn't watch that many Kdramas last year but some noteworthy ones are ofcourse, When Life Gives You Tangerines, but my personal favourite was The Potato Lab which doesnt take itself too seriously but is filled with heartwarming moments.
After not sending even one newsletter the whole year, I told myself I needed to get back to writing so I started in the last month of the year, it feels good to be back to spreading joy and messages of hope.
Last year I finally became a hiker (at least I suppose), and started to enjoy going on hikes. I miss it now that I'm back in a less hike-able country.
When I sold the last mystery book, I felt a bittersweet sensation that's hard to explain, for I know I won't be back to doing this again but I'm grateful I had a chance to immerse myself in books in so many ways.
Having to say goodbye to my bookshelves were incredibly hard but I gave away about 80% of it (even after sending 25kgs of books back home) and perhaps I'll find those books again another day, in another form.
Because it was my last Aussie year, I had to do all the traditional Aussie bits, we had a sausage sizle (much to my partner's woes as he thought I was volunteering us to eat the sausage, not to make it, oops) and then went grape picking which is so much fun! I love eating straight from the tree, as god intended. We also saw sunflowers and I geeked out over how cool they always are. I made my friends take us strawberry picking (on a super rainy day, with a baby!) because I needed to do it, at least once.
We did a road trip to Augusta earlier and had a blast! There were so many shenanigans and enjoying every bit of the down south, it's the farthest I've traveled in WA, the views were incredible. We also had a seperate hike and BBQ day which was so pleasant. When Mai came to visit, we did a Rotto day and saw quokkas, they're so pretty!
Most of the year was a blur because there was so much going on, moving is not an easy task. Coming back, I moved immeditely into multiple jobs and the chaos of Male' dawned on me so ferociously that I didn't have time to really do much else.
How was your year?
